Ruth Roman, 75, well-known for her enthralling mix of beauty, purity and fame during the 1940s and 1950s in Hollywood was pronounced dead on Thursday at her Laguna Beach, Calif. residence. Richard Hall, her son confirmed that she had died asleep. Warner Brothers offered her nine parts in the two years following her breakout character in Stanley Kramer's "Champion which was a 1950 adaptation by the writer Ring Lardner of a mad prizefighter short story. It was her turn to work alongside Bette Davis on 'Beyond the Forest'' supporting Milton Berle's 'Always leave the audience laughing' in one day. After the conclusion of ''Strangers on a Train with Robert Walker, she was invited to appear in ''Tomorrow's another day'' starring Steve Cochran.
